It hasn’t been a whole month since Hurricane Michael ravaged its way through the Florida Panhandle, leaving millions of people affected and thousands of people devastated. Life changed completely for those who were affected, with some being without power for an extended period of time, to some losing their home and personal belongings, to even some tragically losing friends or family in the storm. The hurricane certainly tore up the Emerald Coast, most particularly Panama City and the surrounding area, but one thing that was unexpected is how the storm brought the community together.
Communities have been coming together to help each other out, by assisting in the clean-up efforts to keeping an eye out on one another. Aside from local communities helping each other out, some businesses have also come to help with relief efforts, like Coastal Protect. Coastal Protect has been gathering and delivering donations to the local, hurricane-ravaged Panama City. Coastal Protect is a home security firm that provides home security to people in the Panhandle of Florida, but the firm has decided to take some to give back to the victims of the hurricane by handing out food and water in Panama City Beach.
Acts of kindness like what Coastal Protect is doing for the community helps bring the community together and helps the rebuilding process. The hurricane came and went in just a day’s time and the area may spend years rebuilding, but it’s important to take it one day at a time and make sure the community has food and water until they can return to normal life.
